Our Mission
PrEP is very effective at preventing HIV, but it is still out of reach for many 2SGBTQM due to a wide range of barriers and challenges. A key research priority is to identify and address gaps in PrEP access and uptake for 2SGBTQM and ensure that community needs and preferences are carefully considered when long-acting PrEP becomes available. In particular, our research seeks to prioritize community members who face barriers and challenges with accessing or taking oral PrEP (daily or on demand), including 2SGBTQM who are Indigenous and/or Two-Spirit, Black, People of Colour, trans, non-binary, living in remote/rural areas, or people who use drugs.
Community Engagement
Our team is committed to fostering meaningful engagement with 2SGBTQM community members and organizations to inform the equitable and effective rollout of long-acting PrEP in Canada. Our team includes Community Advisors and Peer Research Associates to guide and facilitate our research activities with 2SGBTQM, service providers, and health system stakeholders to ensure the needs and experiences of our communities are centred within the rollout of long-acting PrEP.
